Does anyone know exactly who redshirted out of the freshman class? I know Perry and McNeil did and pretty sure Butler, Horton, and Baucham, but not sure about Kalil, Holmes, and Smith. The rest of the class I saw in games.

In response to your question, I believe Kalil and Holmes redshirted and Smith did not. I believe, Meyer and McNeil also redshirted. Shane Horton had to redshirt (transfer rules). I suspect that Joe will update after LOI day (just speculation) and we will find out for sure then.

FYI, I was going through past comments and am finally addressing your 11/30/08 note re "star updates."

I did the following based on Scout's current ratings:

Pressley 5 stars (increased from 4 stars to 5 stars)
Graf 5 stars (left at 4 stars)
Metcalf 4 stars (left at 3 stars)
Burfict 5 stars (increased from 4 stars to 5 stars)
Boyd 4 stars (increased from 3 stars to 4 stars)

On Graf and Metcalf, I'm not sure if the star rating changed between 11/30 and now, but Scout definitely has them at 4 and 3 stars at the moment.

Thanks,

wrong picture for Torin (CB from Las Vegas)?

I stand corrected. I just found the uncropped photo in my archive and, while his hand is blocking his first name in this particular photo and I can only see his last name on his shirt, "Harris," in another photo of the very same player, I can read "Cliff Harris". Crap. I'll fix it soon. Thanks.

Shoemate or Jones?

Saw a #0 on one of the special teams vs. the Suckeyes. Who might that be?

I am not a big fan of playing for less than first place either, so I do understand "the season is over" comment. CFB is the only sport, that I know of, that does not have a true championship competition.

However, USC can still win a cfb poll championship by:

1) Winning the rest of their games
2) Ohio State winning the rest of their games
3) A Texas Loss
4) A Boise State Loss
5) Another Virginia Tech Loss

The SEC winner will be the opponent, of course.

Martin Coleman tidbit
------------
Coleman said that he has been cleared to take part in spring ball and he says he is the healthiest he has been in his three years at USC. Martin said the coaches have him at the guard spot for now and he can't wait to get on the field to finally show what he can do. For the record, Coleman says he has three years of eligibility remaining since he took a medical redshirt year and a regular redshirt year.

The new coaching staff hasn't seen their players practice or play in person, but they can tell enough from the game film.

And because of that, two Trojans are making position switches heading into Spring Practice 2010.

Senior Jordan Cameron is moving from wideout to tight end, while redshirt freshman Simione Vehikite has been switched from fullback to linebacker. The new positions shouldn't be all that new for either player though, as Cameron has played some tight end during his two previous seasons at USC, while Vehikite was a standout linebacker along with fullback in high school.
